The Monte Lander trail in Arta Terme is a hiking trail that crosses a unique landscape, characterised by spectacular geological formations such as the Lander bell towers, rocky pinnacles shaped by erosion.
An easy route allows the average hiker to enjoy magnificent views and glimpses.
Reach Arta Terme and cross the entire village, go past Piano d'Arta and cross the bridge over the Randice stream. After a few hundred metres, take the fork on the right, follow the small road and go past a riding school and a few dozen metres you will reach the large parking area. From the parking area on the left, we immediately begin the ascent along the path, the now dirt road continues slightly downhill. There are countless bends within the mixed coniferous forest. Walk along the continuous, wide ascent in silence and, if you tackle it early in the morning, you can distinctly hear the incessant work of the woodpeckers until you reach the Lander Bivouac (1175 m). Upstream from the bivouac, the path climbs again, skirting a vast area of erosion, where one can admire the power of nature that has modelled the rocks over time, creating these ‘bell towers’. The area is equipped with parapets and railings in the most exposed sections. In a short time, one reaches the belvedere with the Madonnina del Lander (about 1300 m) and the towers themselves, whose origin is illustrated by a sign displayed here. The return is along the same route.
