Dressed in period costumes, the inhabitants of Paluzza and the neighbouring villages offer tasty samples of typical Carnic gastronomy in the many kiosks located in the streets of the village, animated by music and entertainment of various kinds.
The highlight of the festival, however, is undoubtedly the five challenges: one for the little ones and four for the champions and champions nominated by each contrada. It has to be a careful choice, because only one of them wins the Palio Das Cjarogiules!
These are the competitions specifically: the Palio dal Fen for the women, the Palio dal Seon, the Palio da Cjame and the Palio das Cjarogiules for the men. Easy to explain in words, not so easy to complete in speed.
This event is the ultimate expression of the Carnic people in recounting and reliving their origins, through the symbol of the cjarogiule (axle with wheels and rudder) and the louze (wooden sledge) with which they used to transport all their family possessions. Their silent progress over the centuries bears witness to the ancient toil of this mountain people, today delighted to welcome so many guests into their home.
