Sauris is famous for its gastronomy, starting with smoked sausages, beer, but above all its ham, the raw, sweet ham smoked with beech wood aromatised with juniper and herbs. To its ham, Sauris dedicates a festival that enlivens the two weekends in the middle of July, during which stands are set up in the villages where you can taste ham, speck, gnocchi, grilled meats, sweets and many other delicacies. In a market, food products from the Carnic mountains can be bought, and in a lively exhibition-market of local craftsmen can be seen at work sculpting everyday objects. All this is accompanied by itinerant music and shows.
