‘Arlois e fasois’, the bean festival in the valley of time, a kermis combining the gastronomy, culture and traditions of the Pesarina Valley. On both days there will be many proposals including museums, exhibitions, workshops for children, markets, guided excursions, all surrounded by good music and excellent dishes based on beans and more.
The event is also an opportunity to celebrate the two typical products of this enchanting and secluded valley in Carnia, Friuli Venezia Giulia, dominated by the peaks of the Pesarine Dolomites.
The first product is clocks (arlois in Carnic dialect), the production of which, known throughout the world under the name of ‘Solari’, began in the late 1600s and has continued to the present day.
Monumental clocks can be admired along the streets of the picturesque village, and it is possible to visit the Clock Museum and the Casa Carnica Museo ‘Bruseschi’ and the exhibition of cinema and photography machines, in the hamlet of Pieria.
The second product celebrated by the festival are beans (fasois) grown in all households' gardens and on small farms, prized for the purity of their seed. In their many varieties cultivated in the valley, they represent the manifestation of biodiversity to be conserved, preserved and valorised.
